Dubai's General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) to host the 2020 ACFE Fraud Conference Middle East. The conference will take place 23-25 February 2020 at Madinat Jumeirah.

The agreement was signed by Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the GDRFA in Dubai, and by Bruce Dorris, J.D., CFE, CPA, the President and CEO of the ACFE.

“We are delighted to be hosting this conference, which is a participatory platform that brings together elite speakers in the field of anti-fraud to discuss the main challenges and obstacles in combating fraud and mitigate its negative impact,” said Major General Al Marri.

“Education and communication are some of the most important tools in preventing and detecting fraud,” said Dorris. “As such, we are excited to partner with the GDRFA and return to Dubai for the 2020 ACFE Fraud Conference Middle East. This conference continues to be the preeminent event for anti-fraud professionals in the region and GDRFA has shown their dedication to transparency and governance by hosting this event.”

This conference will aid in the adoption of global procedures and initiatives tailored for the current challenges anti-fraud professionals face in an ever-evolving landscape. It will also help enhance governance and raise the efficiency of internal controls and fraud risk management.

Major General Al Marri added that by hosting this conference, GDRFA is furthering the vision of Dubai’s leadership to establish best practices of governance and transparency, and protecting and continuing the path of sustainable development in the UAE. This is the 5th year the ACFE has held this conference; most recently in Abu Dhabi where nearly 500 attendees from both public and private sector attended.
