Carolyn W. Colvin, Social Security Commissioner, Joins Keynote Lineup

Carolyn W. Colvin, Acting Commissioner of the Social Security Administration (SSA), has officially joined the keynote lineup at the 26th Annual ACFE Global Fraud Conference. She will speak on Tuesday, June 16 at the 8:30 a.m. General Session in Exhibit Hall CD.

Most notable, Colvin led the agency's response to a series of high-profile disability fraud schemes, one of which was the subject of a "60 Minutes" report. She's testified numerous times on Capitol Hill on the subject. In a statement before the House Ways and Means Committee, Colvin said, "We are committed to preserving the public’s trust in our programs. We have no tolerance for fraud, and I reiterate to those who would defraud Social Security: We will find you; we will prosecute you; we will seek the maximum punishment allowable under the law; and we will fight to restore the money you’ve stolen to the American people."

Colvin, who won Senate confirmation as Deputy Commissioner in 2010 having been an executive at SSA in the 1990s, was nominated for the top job in June 2014. As Acting Commissioner, she and her team released a 10-year service delivery plan entitled Vision 2025 in April. The plan explores the loss of institutional knowledge, outdated technology and budget uncertainty, pointing toward solutions in meeting customer needs, leadership and workplace collaboration. Vision 2025 “outlines the use of technology so that employees can better serve customers, but also how we can become more efficient,” Colvin said in an interview with Government Executive

Currently, Colvin is in the process of heading up an anti-fraud organization with the agency based on benchmarking that was done with private-sector insurance programs.
